This course examines the structure, function, and role of financial markets and institutions within the global economy. It explores how financial markets (such as money, capital, and derivatives markets) facilitate the flow of funds between savers and borrowers, and how various financial institutions—like commercial banks, investment firms, insurance companies, and central banks—operate and interact within the financial system. Topics typically include interest rate determination, monetary policy, regulatory frameworks, risk management, and the impact of globalization on financial systems. Prerequisites: FINA 1312. You must have earned at least 30 credit hours before registering for this course.
